Bird of Paradise, Orange  Strelitzia reginae ‘Orange’

Exotic (origin South Africa) | Full sun/ part shade | Cut flower | H to 2m | W to 1.2m

An evergreen, clump forming, palm-like perennial with long, lance-shaped foliage. The striking, orange and blue flowers, birdlike in shape, red-edged bracts, occur mainly in spring and summer. Hardy and reasonably drought tolerant.

Category/Uses: Feature plant –  a colourful, showy addition to sunny sheltered sites in the garden. Both flowers and leaves can be used in flower arrangements.

Position:Thrives in moist, well-drained soil in a warm position protected from frost.

Care: Remove damaged or spent leaves regularly and protect from direct sunlight in summer. Reduce watering in cooler months but water well in summer.
